“Many feelings are involved in ending relationships. Every person who comes to us for help is different and we respect what they are feeling.”
FVLC Advocate
If you are concerned about your relationship or don’t feel safe at home, you are not alone. We understand the needs of survivors and bring our passion, kindness and patience to support you in finding the best course of action for your situation.
If you live in Alameda County, California, you can call our 24-hour crisis line at (800) 947-8301. For nationwide referrals, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-799-SAFE (800-799-7233), available 24/7.
What to Expect When You Call
At FVLC, your call will be answered by someone who can help. We will listen to your story and help you decide what to do. Everything we talk about will be just between us, completely confidential.
If you need a place to stay, we can help you think through your options. We can answer your questions about a restraining order, talk about what it does, and may be able to help you file one with the court.
Protecting Your Children
You may be concerned about the safety of your children. We can talk about how child custody will be affected if you get a restraining order. We provide specialized counseling for children and can help them recover from the abuse. We also may be able to help you get financial assistance and child support, as well as make sure your family has a safe place to live.
Help for Immigrants
Even if you are not documented, you can get a restraining order. As an abuse survivor, you also may be eligible for specialized legal assistance to help you obtain legal status. We work closely with agencies that provide these services. Contacting the police can feel scary if you are undocumented, but the police should not ask you about your immigration status.
We Speak Your Language
No matter what language you speak, we can help. Our services are available in all languages, through a translator. All conversations are confidential.
